Fantasia Barrino Receives Threatening Letter, Theater Security Strengthened
Former “American Idol” champ Fantasia Barrino’s security team is on high alert after the 25-year-old singer received a disturbing letter. She has received a threatening letter from someone claiming he used to work as a Fox security guard during her “Idol” days.
Barrino was reading her fan mail after a performance of her play “The Color Purple” at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles on Friday when she got hold of the letter.
Her manager told TMZ that the message was loaded with racial slurs and a line that reads “go back where you came from and die.”
The writer claimed he used to work for the network as a security personnel while Barrino was competing on “American Idol.”
Although Barrino said she will not be “defeated by one isolated person’s hatred,” they aren’t taking any chances. The theater has strengthened security around her and all over the venue.
The singer rose to fame as the season three champ of the Fox reality competition show in 2004.
